Puerto Vallarta and Bahia de Banderas is heaven for surfing. Each surf spot has a unique location, which means its important to know the conditions and direction of the swell depending on the tides and the season, winters and summers.

La Lancha

La Lancha can be perfect for beginners and advanced surfers with the right direction of the swell. It is a reef break with a paddle in of a couple minutes. There are two breaks with rights and lefts and a small sand break.

Break type: Reef/Rocky break

Surf: Morning and Sunset
Preference: short board/long board

Punta Burros

Villa Varadero

Villa Varadero is a mellow sandy beach break along a small wedge, it’s not too deep and there are no rocks making it perfect for first timers, beginner and groms. It’s mostly rights and some left waves as well.

Surf: Morning and possibly sunset
Preference: Short boards and long boards

El Anclote

El Anclote is a small mellow long wave, its a right with low to medium speed mostly for longboards. This spot is mostly when the direction of the swell is good.

Surf: All day
Preference: Long board

Veneros

Veneros is a wave with fast sections and spitting barrels, it’s a sandy beach breaks with some rocks. Short paddle in in between sets. It’s only for short boards and recommended for medium to advanced surfers.

Paredon

Paredon is a wave with power and push, waves that are long and fun to big & fast ones, situated besides veneros , Paredon is a fun challenging reef break with a medium-long paddle in.

Preference: Short boards

Stinky's

Stinky’s is ideal for beginners and intermediates with fun and fast mellow waves for long boards. It’s mostly surfed on big swells when the conditions are too big on the other surf spots.

Preference: Long board

El Faro

El Faro is a secluded surf spot only accesible by boat. It’s a big long wave that can be mellow and fast. The swell and direction need to be aligned in order to get good waves in the spot.

Preference: Short board/Long board

El Tizate

El Tizate only breaks when there is a solid swell with a good direction, with long and some fast sections, it makes it perfect for long boards and has a short paddle in. It’s located in Punta de Mita and la Cruz.

Bahia Surf Break

Bahia has both right and left waves, with chill but fast waves, it is only accesible by boat and it highly depends on the swell and directions. Both for short and long boards.
